Jenny and Phil travel together as they come from over near West Butterwick side.

Jenny had her first stroke 6 years ago and because of this she could not talk or move and spent a lot of time in bed. She struggles to find the words and having these sessions enables her to feel comfortable, safe and in a friendly environment. The others understand her, know the pain, the anguish in not always finding the correct words. Jenny Loves the fact she has got a resemblance of her old life back now, although she still struggles that it isn’t the life she had before, but she enjoys taking part in physical activity and being part of an activity group. Jenny used to be the one looking after everyone whereas now she must take time for herself. Jenny loves to be positive and proactive, this mentality helped her to attend week one and she has been attending regularly since.

Phil had his stroke 6 years ago, He enjoys seeing others, making friends and being social. Phil still struggles with articulating many words and communicating with others. These sessions have helped him to get out, be active and be part of a social group.

Tony

Really struggles articulating words, frustrated people don’t understand him, however he can write so using other forms of communication enables him to still engage in conversation and express what he would like to say.

His movement in his right arm is very limited but he is enjoying working hard in the sessions to do more with his arm and seeing the improvement in himself. His strength is improving, and this is supporting him to feel more independent at home.  Tony loves the sessions, most of all being with others.

Sue

Sue only had her stroke in January this year.  Due to a number of lockdowns Sue has felt really isolated and has limited contact with people. Whilst in hospital Sue contracted Covid but thankfully has made a recovery and is now back home and has spent a lot of time with her loving husband Fred.

Fred talks about the hard work She has put in, and she still struggles to speak, he understands her through movement and eyes and just knowing her. These sessions have enabled the couple to be back out in the community, taking part in activities. Sue is still undergoing physiotherapy and Fred can see the improvement in his wife’s health and wellbeing,
